Chawan Japanese Sakura

Our Price: $33.00

The Sakura flower on our chawan, or Japanese tea bowl, is, of all the tea utensils, the most familiar to Westerners and yet its significance is rarely appreciated. More than a tea cup, its primary role is as the direct connection between host and guest. It can transcend its' function and take on a spirit of its' own. As these bowls are used over time they mature and improve.

High-fired unglazed ware famous for its ash deposits and distinctive forms. Originated around 12th century, spreading outward from Tokoname and Atsumi.
The art of chado can be practiced with a chawan bowl handcrafted in Japan. With the maker's mark on the bottom for authenticity don't be fooled by imitations. Now you can witness the beauty and splendor and find peace in your daily life.

* 4.5" in diameter and 3" deep. Incredible gift for everyone!
